Youth-Led Social Innovation Challenge & Seed Catalyst

Beyond the Certificate: Youth Pathways to Decent Work

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth  |  Connected to SDGs 4, 10 & 17

What happens after the certificate?

For many youth navigating education, displacement, migration and the diaspora, earning a credential does not automatically translate into meaningful work or economic independence.

Beyond the Certificate is a youth-led social innovation challenge that brings young people together to identify barriers between education and employment and propose practical pathways forward.

How It Works

1. Youth Voices
Young people ages 18–29 to share lived experiences, identify barriers and propose solutions to education-to-work transitions.

2. Innovation & Action
Selected participants will develop practical, youth-led solutions addressing challenges such as skills alignment, credential recognition, digital access, mentorship and professional networks.

3. Mentorship & Experiential Learning
Our academic/community partners can engage as peer mentors, research synthesis assistants and knowledge collaborators.

4. Knowledge to Action
Youth insights and emerging solutions will be synthesized into a Knowledge-to-Action publication, offering practical recommendations for institutions, policymakers and practitioners.

5. From Community to Campus
We envision bringing the findings to universities during SDG Month 2027 through a public conversation connecting youth innovators,  students, researchers and community leaders.

Our Vision

Move beyond asking whether young people are qualified enough and start asking whether our systems are creating pathways for them to thrive.

Join us in turning youth experience into evidence, ideas into action, and certificates into opportunity.
